cook time: 15 minutes
ingredients
1 head of broccoli
1-2 tbsp of olive oil
seasoning: salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder
2 tbsp tahini
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 tsp sesame oil
salt, to taste
hot water, to thin
sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Wash and chop the broccoli into evenly sized pieces. Grease a large baking sheet and add the chopped broccoli. Drizzle some olive oil to lightly coat the broccoli, and add about 1 tsp of each of the spices for the seasoning. Make sure to space the broccoli out so it roasts instead of just steaming.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for about 10-13 minutes, flipping halfway through.
To make the tahini sauce, combine the tahini, soy sauce, lemon juice, maple syrup, garlic, and sesame oil. Mix the sauce, adding hot water until it is your desired thinness. Season with salt until it tastes to your liking.
Heat a skillet on medium high heat and toast the sesame seeds until lightly browned, about 3-5 minutes.
Once the broccoli is done roasting, drizzle the tahini sauce and garnish with sesame seeds. Enjoy!
notes
The tahini sauce can easily be substituted for Kewpie Sesame Dressing: https://www.kewpieshop.com/products/kewpie-deep-roasted-sesame-dressing-8oz Personally, I made homemade sauce simply because I had tahini I needed to use hahaha. Either way, it's a super great way to incorporate vegetables on the side! :)
